Kortom: Pippin Rules!

English Review

Pippin! Sexy, sparkling and makes us want more!

Do you recognize that moment? Something fantastic happens and a party is starting in your head?? Men are sliding down from the ceiling, woman hanging graciously in the curtains, backflips, trapezes, hula hoops? Yes? Then you can definitely understand our excitement when it all came to life at Pippin, the musical.

Musicalweb was invited to see the first try-out of Pippin, Broadway at the Amstel in Carré. A musical 2.0. So much more than a musical. It was a spectacle. The cast of Pippin knew how to give fantastic performance about the life of Pippin. Kyle Dean Massey played outstanding in the role of Pippin. Pippin is looking for more. He wants to find the meaning of life. During his journey, he meets a gorgeous woman, Gabrielle McClinton. The way she moves around the stage, her dancemoves and even her voice is magical. She guides him in the right direction.

In his journey, Pippin tries to discover the reason his father is so unfair and unreasonable. John Rubinstein performed the role of a stereotype father, who doesn’t see beyond the end of his… nose! He does this in an excellent way. His sexy wife and stepmother of Pippin, played by Sabrina Harper claims to be an ordinary housewife… and mother. However, she added a little touch of Burlesque when she started to perform. Well, if all housewives were like that…. ?

When Pippin visits his grandmother, Adrienne Barbeau, the audience also gets involved. The well known song “Time to start living” begins and this enthused the audience to sing along. No excuses… the lyrics is shown karaoke style. She blew everyone’s mind when she turned out to be not only a great singer, but also a fantastic acrobat, when she sang literally upside down. Chapeau! The singing, the dancing, the acrobatics, so called perfection. Every little detail showed a great sense of humour.

A musical filled with showstoppers, breath taking moments, illusions and beautiful singing and dancing. During the break you wonder: “Is there anything I haven’t seen yet?!” Pippin is sexy, sparkling and makes us want more!

You could tell the cast of Pippin felt at home in Carré and we can understand why!

Go and explore the wonderful and magical world of Pippin, performed at Carré until the 10th of April. A must see without a doubt!
