De Tony Awards zullen dit jaar toch worden uitgereikt zo is vandaag aangekondigd. Aanvankelijk zou de uitreiking in juni in de Radio City Music Hall in New York plaatsvinden maar deze 74ste editie moest worden uitgesteld vanwege de coronacrisis.
Er zal uiteraard geen normale ceremonie worden georganiseerd dit najaar maar de theaterprijzen zullen virtueel worden uitgereikt. Het gaat om een kort seizoen waar naar gekeken zal worden gezien het feit dat alle theaters op Broadway op 12 maart werden gesloten. Er waren op dat moment nog diverse producties die zelfs nog niet officieel in première waren gaan.

Wanneer de uitreiking van de theaterprijzen precies plaats zal vinden dit najaar zal op een later moment worden bekendgemaakt.
